Oscillators - an approach for a better understanding (tutorial presented at ECCTD’03)
نویسنده
چکیده
The aim of this tutorial is to provide an electronic engineer knowledge and insight for a better understanding of the mechanisms behind the behaviour of electronic oscillators. A linear oscillator is a mathematical fiction which can only be used as a starting point for the design of a real oscillator based on the Barkhausen criteria. Statements in textbooks and papers saying that the nonlinearities are bringing back the poles to the imaginary axis are wrong. The concept of ”frozen eigenvalues” is introduced by means of piece-wise-linear modelling of the nonlinear components which are necessary for steady state oscillations. A number of oscillator designs are investigated and the mechanisms behind the control of frequency and amplitude are discussed.

In this paper, a new analytical approach has been presented for solving strongly nonlinear oscillator problems. Iteration perturbation method leads us to high accurate solution. Two different high nonlinear examples are also presented to show the application and accuracy of the presented method. The results are compared with analytical methods and with the numerical solution using Runge-Kutta m...

متن کاملA New Solution to Analysis of CMOS Ring Oscillators
New equations are proposed for frequency and amplitude of a ring oscillator. The method is general enough to be used for all types of delay stages. Using exact largesignal circuit analysis, closed form equations for estimating the frequency and amplitude of a high frequency ring oscillator are derived as an example. The method takes into account the effect of various parasitic capacitors to...

Enhancement of heat and mass transfer and decrease of energy dissipation are great necessities of the evolution of fluid flow devices. Utilizing oscillatory or pulsatile fluid flow for periodic disturbing of velocity and thermal boundary layers is one of the methods with exciting results. Passive methods of generating oscillatory flow are preferred to active methods because of simplicity, no ne...

Modeling of large amplitude of structures such as slender, flexible cantilever beam and fluid-structure resting on nonlinear elastic foundations or subjected to stretching effects often lead to strongly nonlinear models of Duffing equations which are not amendable to exact analytical methods. In this work, explicit analytical solutions to the large amplitude nonlinear oscillation systems of cub...
